What Is CoWorking?

CoWorking in a workspace space such as our is a need that has grown from the massive growth in the past few years of freelancers, homeworkers, teleworkers, SMEs and sole traders, etc that have benefitted from technologies such as fibre Internet connections, video conferencing, VOIP, and cloud services.

The term Digital Nomad is now used to describe these flexible, tech savvy individuals and small teams who work smartly and collaborate often over great distance while enjoying the benefits of breaking free from the classic 9 to 5 lifestyle.

York offers the benefit of this flexible working lifestyle while living in a beautiful city with excellent transport links, schools, parks, culture etc.

Our Concept

After many years of wrestling with this dilemma, our founder reimagined the public space where he was most productive and happiest to visit when he had a month of invoicing or a report to write. This was his local coffee shop where despite being perched on the edge of a desk desperately trying to conserve laptop power, many productive hours were spent.

What about a warm friendly coffee shop where for an affordable fee you could work among likeminded people with a desk, power, light, place for your bag and coat, locker for your belonging if you want to pop out, your own post box, and a private space for meetings. My Bureau was therefore created.

Friendly Business Focussed Community

The life of the Digital Nomad can at times be a solitary existence working from home with all the distractions that brings, or search for a public space in a library or coffee shop with no guarantees of the quality of that space or facilities. Plus we’re human beings and by definition Digital Nomads are “People” people who want to interact with others, have space to meet clients, and network. It’s also a measurable that we’re more productive when we work with others around us.
